John Lennon, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, and George Harrison make up the world famous band The Beatles. Both The Beatles and Marshall McLuhan explored the effects of electric media on the world. They reflected similar ideas of culture and a simultaneous world, as McLuhan mentions in The Media is the Massage: "we now live in a global village...a simultaneous happening" (63).

They were at the forefront of technological shifts in music recording, using multitrack recording to create albums like Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. The sound engineering on their song "A Day in the Life" was unlike anything created before.

The Beatles are arguably the most famous and influential pop band of all time. They revolutionized music, helped further technology, media, and inspired numerous bands that come after them. Not only that, but they promoted a message of hope and peace to the world.
